Scientific Description: p53 (tumor protein 53 or TP53) regulates cell cycle by acting as a transcription factor. It suppresses tumor and hence it is often described as "the guardian of the genome", "the guardian angel gene", or the "master watchman". This is referred to its role in conserving stability by preventing genome mutation.[1] p53 is referred to its molecular mass (53 kDa)) protein on SDS-PAGE.
